INFO

Messer fur Frau Muller is Oleg Gitarkin and Oleg Kostrov - two very interesting and innovative musicians from St. Petersburg. Their music draws on sounds and samples which range from bits of spoken word to operatic vocal snippets to cartoon music, all layered over varying melodies. The word that best describes it would probably be "quirky", but that doesn't even come close to describing the wonderful style of musical strangeness found on this CD.
"Iris 'Kiss Kiss'" basically consists of people meowing and laughing over a background of upbeat cartoon music and sounds. "Cat's Felix First Fix!" (yes, that's really the title) has got to have the strangest mix of samples and music that I've heard in a long time. Salute, Adieu!" sounds like Angelo Badalamenti on happy pills. And it just gets better - and stranger!
I could go on and on about the music, but it's next to impossible to describe what it really sounds like - this is one CD that you just have to hear for yourselves!
I don't know if there are plans for a wider release of the group's CDs (they also have a second CD on this label) but I certainly hope so. Messer fur Frau Muller sounds completely different from anything else you've ever heard, and their music is well worth seeking out.
